These mugs are part of the Volcan serie, made my Arcopal France in the seventies. Their colour is inspired by lava, a gorgeous caramel with red swirls in them.
The mugs are made from milk glass/opale glass. This type of glass is five times stronger than porcelain. When making the mugs, the glass is slowly heated up before they cool it down in an instant, which contributes to their sturdiness. Arcopal even had an elephant as a logo to show how strong their glass was! 🐘
